Inspiring and motivating change and belief is a key element of the work of A Grain of Sand. This can be delivered through motivational and leadership talks as well as through master classes in Campaigning, Sustainability, Leadership and Communications.
As a co-founder and then Director Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) from 1990-2000 Chris Hines helped deliver a massive change in the quality of water around the UK coastline and helped inspire a new wave of campaigners and activism. During that period SAS were regarded as “Britain’s coolest pressure group!” by the Independent and by the BBC News and Current Affairs as “Some of the Government’s most sophisticated environmental critics.”
During his role as Sustainability Director at the Eden Project Chris Hines drove triple bottom line thinking deep into the DNA of the organisation. (Triple bottom line thinking is the balance between environmental, social and financial elements of your world). This included two way engagement sessions with all members of staff across the breadth and depth of the organisation.
Chris has delivered motivational and change speeches and talks to a wide range of organisations, from the senior management of the National Grid, through to Lerryn Village Women’s Institute. Talks can be tailored specifically for the audience.
A Grain of Sand works with a number of associates and companies, drawing in skills and resources as required.
“Your presentation was passionate, engaging, thought provoking and really connected with the audience. Tackling climate change and the ability of individuals to make a difference are both vital messages and you really brought them to life. I hugely enjoyed and valued your contribution and I have had lots of great feedback from the delegates. Absolutely first rate.” Nick Winser, Executive Director, National Grid
“Entertaining and inspirational - we need to start rattling a few cages as well!” WRAP
"Chris is unique. His enthusiasm, practical application and idealism create an unstoppable combination that inspired Eden from its early days to follow a course towards sustainability that was rational, realistic and, ultimately inspirational. The man is, quite frankly, a national treasure". Tim Smit, CEO the Eden Project.
'Chris Hines is a born story teller and his own story is one worth hearing. Entertaining, intriguing, motivating and inspiring. He always leaves behind a room full of energy and excitement.' Nelisha Wickremasinghe, Senior Programme Director, Common Purpose UK.
